Bool Chul Pan Korean Hot Grill

Chowtimes posted about this vaguely named Korean restaurant in September, but I couldn’t go try it out quite as soon as I wanted because of my wisdom teeth.

So, I decided to make it a event, and extended the invite out to my fans on Facebook.  I did send out email invitations to the other food bloggers, but only got a couple replies. Understandably, some couldn’t make it because it was Thanksgiving Long Weekend.

Accord Food House 一心麵典

Nestled on Kingsway across from Metrotown is Accord Food House 一心麵典, but you wouldn’t know it’s there unless you were looking for it.  I met an old friend for lunch here a week ago.  We arrived just past 12 and the place, although tiny, was full. The place can fit max 16 people probably!  Left and right, all I heard was Mandarin and Taiwanese (which I barely understand).  It was a hot day, and they had 3 AC’s pumping in there.

The menu is simple, noodles, rice, appetizers, drinks, and there are special desserts on the wall.  There was a little problem though, the menu is completely in Chinese so I couldn’t read everything as there were no English translations.  I could only pick out words I knew, like beef, noodle, rice, etc.. so I just resorted to asking for what I knew.

Alvin Garden – Burnaby, BC

This is going to be one lengthy post. I’m not sure if I can even make it for the deadline of Tuesday since I’ll have ultimate till late.. I’ll probably be the last to post about it amongst the other bloggers. Oh well, it’ll even out the fact that I arrived at the restaurant earlier, even earlier than the organizer Sherman. =P

Actually, since it’s Tuesday, I’ll post it first and the rest of you can link me! Edit: I got beat by Sherman and LaPetiteVancouver.. boo!

It’s very obvious that the food blogosphere in Vancouver has exploded as of late, and it’s getting a little crowded.  No problem, that just means there are more like minded people to meet and dine with!  Sherman organized this foodie dinner meet and KimHo suggested the restaurant.

A list of the bloggers who attended..total 13 people, including myself! That’s a big group of people to eat together.

The Best Damn Food Blog There Is™ – post is up, here.

While we were missing some notables (to me at least) such as Chowtimes, Foodosophy, Eat ‘n About, EatSnapRepeat, (who are all other bloggers I would like to meet), I had a good time at the dinner. I’ll be honest though, I really noticed the age difference. I felt as if I could have been someones kid!

The napkins said Xiang Cuisine, but the restaurants name is Alvin Garden.  I think they should switch back, Alvin Garden just doesn’t seem like a proper name for a Chinese restaurant.

Anton's Pasta Bar

Anton's Pasta Bar on Urbanspoon

I’ve never been to Anton’s, even though the earliest I’ve heard about it was probably Gr.9..so that’s about 5 years ago. Yesterday night, for our last week of dodgeball, we were somewhat in the area (near Hastings) so our team went for dinner after.  Yes, our team name is Condiments.

Antons-0075

They close at 1030, we arrived at 930 and they made a good effort to seat us.  Probably because of the time we came in, we didn’t get the complimentary Portuguese buns I saw on other tables and read about on Sherman’s post. I’m not sure if I can fault the restaurant or not, because of the time, but it is definitely something that should be taken note of. I think they just forgot, or thought we wouldn’t notice.

So the menu is very extensive, you can see it on their site. Every pasta dish is $14.95 unless listed and baked dishes is an additional $2.

Too many choices makes it hard for a customer to choose, and it also makes one think about the quality. Anyways..food pictures first.

Sarita got a drink, and I can’t remember what it’s called.

Now, having to remember 9 different orders is hard! I should have written them down or gotten a copy of the receipt.
