Triple O’s On The Go – Picnic in the Park-ing Lot

A sunny July day was the setting for a sneak preview of the newly minted Triple O’s On The Go mobile food truck.

It’s no secret that I used to work at White Spot. In fact, it’s right there on my About page which probably only 10% of you have read. Taking a walk through the truck, it all looked VERY familiar, except well..a lot cleaner.

It was also pretty amusing to meet Scott Lewis,Director of Operations and Warren Erhart, the President of White Spot Limited and Triple O’s and mention that I used to work for their company.

;)
Actually, it was quite an honour to meet the CEO of the company I worked for.

Since we were in the parking lot beside the Cambie & 12th Avenue location of White Spot, we were gonna have a picnic in the park..-ing lot.

With me were some familiar faces, Dennis Pang and his now newly married wife May, Dee (Gastrofork) Taya and Gary (Eating In Vancouver), Raul (Hummingbird604), Joyce (Vanfoodies), Jessica and Mark (Yum-O-Rama) and some others I didn’t get a chance to meet. Some waters, Soda Pop

First up was the Pulled Pork Poutine. Tender pulled pork, Montreal cheese curds, sweet & spicy BBQ sauce all slopped upon White Spot’s big fat fries. Aside from the fries being a tad undercooked, according to White Spot standards, this was a hefty portion. Would this be able to put up a fight with all the (great) competition from the likes of Re-Up, Kaboom Box, Local Fresh Wild, and even the poutine restaurants such as Fritz, La Belle Patate and Brado’s?

As if that above appetizer portion wasn’t big enough, we were all given a BBQ Bacon Burger for our main. This burger was nearly double my fist!

I’m not 100% certain of where the White Spot Chipotle mayo comes from, but who cares, it’s frigging delicious. Put that on everything. So when it’s spread on my bun along with bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and the normal beef patty..well let’s just say it was a winner in my book.

To finish off the meal were some new milkshake flavours. We were given smaller (thank god) portions, just a little sampler. The first one was an Orange Creamsicle, and it tasted bang on like the neon orange treats I received every sports day in elementary school. This was definitely an upgrade though, as they have sourced out some real vanilla bean ice cream, which I was told was the reason why there black specks at the bottom of the cup when I pointed it out.

The second flavour was Peanut Butter Mocha, which I can best accurately describe as that saucer shaped chocolate with peanut butter magically inserted inside, but in a melted form. A little rich for me, but that’s just my non sweet tooth speaking.

After all this food, we played balance the egg on a spoon for a prize pack. Dee and I just barely lost out to May and Dennis!

Thanks White Spot & Triple O’s for having me out. You’ll always hold a special place in my heart.
