604 Foodtography

Deacon’s Corner has been on my list since September, but I just never ended up going for so many reasons. Can’t wake up early enough on the weekend to go for breakfast, can’t go during school time, lazy and didn’t wan to drag some friends there, etc.  So when our APPK (Anatomy, Physiology, Pathologies & Kinesiology) teacher said that we would go for breakfast/early lunch for our last class with him, Deacon’s Corner was almost a no brainer.

This first picture of the entrance to Deacon’s was actually taken on September 11th. I took the picture knowing fully well that I would be back one day. I was in this area of Gastown/Railtown because Kevin and I were to meet Ben for some beer at The Alibi Room!

Nearly my whole class walked over to Deacon’s for a late breakfast/lunch. Truth be told, it was my second breakfast cause I just can’t start the day without food. I would die before I make it to school if I didn’t eat…

Since there were so many of us (16? 17?), I really didn’t find it reasonable to take a picture of every different dish. So I just stuck with what was ordered around me. Heidi opted for the Veggie Omelette (3 eggs, mushroom, spinach, onion, bell pepper, cheddar, hashbrowns & toast). It looked great, and is certainly a big serving.

Erin & Taylor shared a plate of Pancakes (3 (really big) buttermilk pancakes, ham & 2 eggs).

I was trying to show how big the pancakes are in relation to something, but it doesn’t really show it well. Also, Erin has small hands so that’s probably not too helpful either. The size of them makes me think of the pancakes you would get at De Dutch, aka Pannekoek.

I ordered Two Eggs Any Style (Hashbrowns, toast and choice of bacon, ham or house made sausage patty) $7.75. The hashbrowns were kind of warm by the time I received my food, perhaps they were just sitting around waiting to be plated? I should have gotten the house made sausage patty because from what I heard, it didn’t look all that great but was really good! Next time, next time..

I had ordered a side of Biscuit & Gravy because I heard good things about it, but it never came. I was full from my food so I never bothered to ask, and I kind of understood with such a big group things can get confusing and lost in the kitchen. However, when the bills came, it still appeared! Had to clear this up up at the register, but aside from that… Deacon’s Corner is downright good simple diner food with down to earth prices!
