Food and photography in Vancouver, BC
A month ago I got an email …which you can read below.
I received a $10 gift card soon after, and on the grand opening day of the Apple store in Oakridge Mall, Kevin Jeff and I went for lunch at White Spot before. I had my gift card, a free appetizer coupon I picked up from the GIB & White Spot @ Cambie Kitchen back in July, and Kevin brought two coupons for a Legendary Burger. You can already tell this was going to be one awesomely (cheap or nearly free) meal.
For the free appetizer, we picked chicken strips. Is my memory failing me, or did White Spot used to serve 6 per order? I really should know, I used to work there..but it’s been more than a year since!
From L-R, Kevin’s Monty Mushroom Burger, and Jeff and I both got Grill & Greens w/ Caesar Salad. There was just no way I was going to order a Pirate Pak, even if that’s what the gift card was sent for. I just didn’t want to have to explain WHY exactly I was getting it…
Grill & Greens is a bigger burger (6oz patty) and it comes with 4 Zoo Sticks. Something about White Spots burgers just mean comfort food to me, they’re simple, the Triple O sauce is really nothing special (don’t tell them I said that) but it’s just what White Spot is good at. The Zoo Sticks were huge, I think the zucchinis they used were on steroids or something because the ones I used to fry up at work were never this big and juicy.
Kevin barely touched his fries, and he had less food than us too. Oh tsk tsk…
You can see that our discount was more than half the total. If that’s not cheap eating, I don’t know what is.

I think a lot of us are disappointed you did not get the pirate pak! C’mon, you are supposed to do almost nothing for display purposes, don’t you?

Somehow White Spot is always a classic. The food is always good for the price. I like it better than the Cactus Club or a lot of other chain places. It seems like every time I go I order the chicken strips. Dang, that honey mustard sauce is good!
