Food and photography in Vancouver, BC
Two weeks ago when summer was still here, we were lounging around in Kevins backyard pool. Since we had already made lunch, kevin suggested we go out for dinner elsewhere, and he took us to his favorite Thai restaurant. He kept mentioning that we were special because he didn’t take much people here. Think of this as me “blowing up your spot” Kevin
.
Located on Main and 28th, this little restaurant with it’s bright green exterior shouldn’t be hard to miss. Other restaurants in the area include The Main, Splitz Grill, and Grub. As a side note, these three I have yet to try out, and hopefully by me putting them down like this, I will remind myself to visit them. Or you could take me… yea you, I see you reading this.
It’s always a nice sign when a restaurant proudly displays their awards right at their entrance.
The interior is small and cozy, and when full of people you will have to speak up to be heard in your conversation.
We ordered three things to share, the first being Sawasdee Fried Rice with Crab Meat.
Next was Pad Thai. Hot and steaming, I liked this the most, but they could have put more peanuts on top!
Our final dish was Green Curry Chicken. The curry was very watery, and Margo suspected they made it that way because we didn’t order rice to go along with it. I kind of agree, but Kevin just said that this is the way the curry is here. Kevin eventually ordered a couple bowls of coconut rice to sop up the remains though. We ordered mild and it was just that. Next time I go I want to see how spicy they can make their food.
More awards. You know a restaurant is good if they’re Zagat rated!
I enjoyed the food, ambiance and service here. The prices are definitely on par with most other Thai restaurants in town.
Oh yea, Kevin treated us to this meal. Thanks, lots of <3!
Side note, the houses in this neighbourhood are very cute.

I’m the total opposite, I’ve been the the restaurants around it, but not Sawasdee yet. The Pad Thai looks good though. I like the colour, although it doesn’t look like there is a lot of ingredients in it. Was there?

Kevin, did you forget the Speedlite that day?
Some of the restaurants in this area are hit-and-miss but, in general, they give you good options. I think I should drop by more often…

@ Kim
I don’t own a flash for my 30D. I was actually using my P&S, haven’t touched my 30D in a while now. The choice of cuisine and restaurants along this stretch of Main is awesome!
