Kedah House

Oh Kedah House, I see this restaurant everyday since I live near it, but I’ve never tried. Not sure why, just never bothered to. So a couple weeks ago after the VDL Captains meeting, my mom asked if I wanted to go eat.

Now the meeting was a Saturday and thus the weekend. I was a little hesitant because I just had lunch at the meeting and Kedah house is a $9.99 buffet on weekends only! It felt like a waste to go for a buffet as I had already ate…

For $10 bucks, it’s hard to gauge how good or how much food there will be.  I remembered reading about the restaurants offerings but not the buffet from Chowtimes.

I will be honest, I do not know much about Malaysian food..so bear with me.

Beef Rendang, peanut sauce with egg/tofu/cucumber, bean sprouts, and sambal egg.

Their peanut sauce was so good, I wanted to drown my plate with it.

Sambal fried egg. Mmmmm…..I like.

I love bean sprouts, and especially the way they prepare them here.  They’re cooked, but still have a bit of crunchiness to them.  I’m the person that will ask for more bean sprouts when I order pho, and I love nibbling on them while waiting.

I’ve only been to kedah house once (and it was a few years ago) but I remember that their mee goreng was superb! The buffet looks like a bargain at $10.

I love Kedah House! We live really nearby too, and while it’s nothing fancy, the food is really good. I wish they varied their offerings a bit more as I’ve had the same thing very often at the buffet.

Did you try the soup? I like that it’s very Tom Yum-like.

I also usually have 3+ cups of their coffee there… not sure if it’s the coffee or the sugar or cream, but there’s something a bit sweeter or caramely about it. So good!

Wow it all looks so good. Or is it just your photography skills? Haha anyway, my family drives past it all the time too and my mom always says we should try it. God that peanut sauce does look good!

We have attempted to dine here, but every time we do, they’re closed!

I’ll have to make an effort to go on the weekends for their lunch buffet – we love Malay food!
