Celsius Cafe

When I first saw Wendy’s (Eat ‘n About) post about Celsius Cafe, I thought it looked like a decent place. Then I read Ben’s (Chowtimes) post and it made me worry a bit. Nonetheless, I still wanted to try it for myself.  We arrived late too, around 1030pm and for different time periods of the day, they have different specials. Check this picture from Wendy cause I didn’t take one.  Taking advantage of the last one, one free refill on any virgin bbt, most of us ordered a drink, but there’s some discrepancy about their definition. I’ll get to that later.

To start off, the service was pretty bad. The restaurant was not busy at all, we were the 2nd group in there, yet the waitress decided to sit down right behind us with her friends and ignore us. She didn’t even have her head up or looked in our direction from time to time, so I had to knock on the table to get her attention. Not off to a good start here…

Yuwing and Victor shared spicy wontons, I got to try one and I liked it, the spicy sauce has a nice kick to it, and the wontons were juicy.

Jeff and I were both hungry, so we ordered the mix-n-match soup combo ($7.95), with an add-on drink for $2.  Jeff had AAA Premium Beef and Beefballs with Ramen noodles in Spicy Soup (mild). He says “it was okay, nothing great, but not as bad as yours.” His drink, Mango Slushy was really watered down, which was confusing since it was such a vibrant yellowy-mango color too. How deceiving…

I had the Mixed Seafood with Marinated Wings with Udon noodles in Spicy Soup (hot). Guess what my soup was? It wasn’t really spicy, but rather salty. The spicy was tolerable, but it was really salty. So ridiculously salty that I didn’t even finish my bowl.  Kind of ruins the rest of the meal if your soup base is salty. Now I can eat a lot, and I’m not particularly picky with my food either, so it’s a really bad sign if I willingly won’t finish my food.

There were some of us that ordered drinks but were not allowed to get a refill cause it was not a TEA.  My interpretation of their special would mean that any virgin (non-alcoholic) bbt drink would be allowed a refill, but apparently they disagree.  My experience left a really bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. I’m not sure if I can even bring myself to try again…

Uh… I can see this place going into the toilet if they keeps this up. Bad food, bad tea, bad service. Not sure if I ever want to try it.
