Food and photography in Vancouver, BC
Just to give a time frame for how far behind I am in posting, I visited nevermind on July 28th 2009 (the same day we got Screamers at Husky Market) with some of my ultimate teammates. We had just finished playing at Jericho in the blazing heat and were starving. I quickly suggested nevermind as it was in the neighbourhood and was along the way home.
The interior of the restaurant is like a cave, dimly lit. It irks me when restaurants are so dark you have to pull candles or sit under a light to read the menu. I want to see what I’m reading and what I’m eating!
Friends have told me that nevermind has really good burgers, lamb burgers to be exact. So that was decided for me, but we also decided to get some wings to share as they were on special for $5! This was strange, as wing specials are usually Wednesday, as seen by Flying Beaver, Legends, and many other bar/pub places.
We had the Sweet Chili Thai (Left corner) and Moroccan (center) wings. The Sweet Chili Thai was really good, just the right mixture of sweet and spicy. The wings came in orders of 10, were piping hot, and really meaty. The waitress described the Moroccan as a spicy BBQ kind of flavor. It was definitely interesting, it had a sort of Indian taste to it and I nearly licked the plate clean trying to figure out what spices were used for it. Can anyone enlighten me what possible combination it could be?
James had the beef burger with salad ($11), with an addition of swiss cheese and mushrooms.
Carmen ordered the Portobello mushroom burger. ($10)
Fettucini alfredo with lots of peas that Stef wouldn’t touch!
I tried the Lamb Burger ($11).50 of course. Described as salt spring island lamb w/ mango salsa and caramelized onions, it was a new and different combination of flavors for me. When I picked it up, I could immediately smell the gaminess of the lamb, which I usually don’t smell. I know some people won’t eat lamb cause of how it smells. Not a problem for me, it was juicy and all. My only complaint was the amount of onions they put on it, as you can see it wasn’t a whole lot. I didn’t finish my fries, the wings before had taken up some space in my stomach.
The restaurant has a really nice outdoor patio, right beside the sidewalk so it offers a great opportunity for people watching, both ways.

Hahaha.. good memories.
= ]
I remember attending a surprise birthday party for a good friend turning 20. His girlfriend set it all up. (This was about 7-8 years ago.)
I don't remember much about the food but I do remember the atmosphere being dim and loud… so it was okay for people to get loud and rowdy.
I remember the waitress coming in our direction with a tray full of shots.
