Screamers at Husky Market in Vancouver (King Edward and Oak)

Every season has some food that everyone will associate with it, and this summer it seems to be Screamers, at least among the food bloggers in Vancouver.  See the reviews for Danny’s Market in Richmond from Five Loaves, Yum-O-Rama, Sherman’s Food Adventures and mine. There’s also Baguette Time in Downtown Vancouver, reviewed by Five Loaves and ImOnlyHereForTheFood. Another one in Vancouver is the Husky Market located at King Edward and Oak, also reviewed by Five Loaves!

Since we were going to our ultimate game out at Jericho, I figured we could drop by along the way and get one since it was such a hot day. It’s a do it yourself process, different from the other places. This gives you freedom to decide how much you want, and combine flavors.

Prices below. We got the Huge Screamer to share ($3.29). Normal slurpees on the left, and I have no idea what the i-screams are on the right.

So I poured out some Crush Lime slurpee, then went to the soft serve.  What a bad idea, I should have just dumped it out once I saw how liquidy the supposedly soft serve ice cream was. It was so liquidy that it’s possible the slurpee was of a thicker texture. The only thing that held me back from pouring it out was that we were in there for a while already, deciding what size to get and what not, and it would have looked REALLY bad.  In hindsight, I should have just complained and told them.

Would iScream be simply the soft serve ice cream?

I had the same problem at the Husky at Grandview Hwy near Victoria St. I was told that it wasn't ice cream but a type of cream?? Found it a bit disappointing because the texture was too liquidity and needed to be firmer.
Much better were the screamers from Davie St or the one from Richmond.

I tried the Screamers from Oak & King Edward and I found it completely disappointing. The ice cream was super watery and gross. Also, as I was making the screamer, the lady at the cashier was eye balling me and making this stern look at me the whole time. I finally asked her what was wrong. She said, “there’s too much ice cream!” I said, “this is not ice cream. If you want I could dump it out and just have the slurpee. I’ll know for next time!” She was such a bitch. I’m the customer. So I made a mistake. The ice cream was very watery so it was hard to stop the flow!!!! It was half slurpee and half ice cream. AUGH. Anyways, horrible customer service. She wants to charge me double! I will NEVER go back there again…and I hope that no one else goes there as well…unless you want to be screamed at!

Just tried the Screamer from this Husky today, and also ran into the ‘runny’ ice cream. I brought it up with the cashier, and he went to investigate. The older woman, I told her about it too and she said they’ll get someone to ‘check out the machine’ but she hasn’t had time. Anyways, I still got the drink, but it was pretty gross compared to the real Screamers from Danny’s Market in Richmond. Definitely a FAIL, and I advise everyone to avoid.
