Really hungry after skimboarding a couple weeks ago, I remembered that I still haven’t had a viet sub from Ba Le. Every time I meant to go and get one, they were closed already! Their hours are 9am-6pm everyday, so it’s best to go early. Also, there can be a lot of people waiting for their orders.
The sign is obviously a little old and faded…and doesn’t give a good description of what’s in the sub. Good thing I picked up a menu from their counter, there’s a big stack of them. Unfortunately, I have no idea where I put it so I can’t scan it for you all….. The most expensive sandwich will cost you $3.50
They have other stuff besides the subs, such as these saran wrapped goodies on the counter, but I have no idea what they are. There’s also a fridge of desserts/meats/etc.
I’m going to guess a dessert/jello type of thing… actually no. Rice cake thingy.
When you order, they ask if you want green pepper, since not everyone likes spicy. This is the regular sandwich and it comes with..I think.. ham, headcheese, viet sausage, pate, mayo & veggies (daikon, carrot, cilantro and green pepper). I THINK this was #2.75..
All mine! Nah.. I had two, Jeff had the other two.
Jeff got the Shredded Chicken Sandwich, for $3.25. It’s the same as the regular, except the meat is shredded chicken. It was pretty good, though it wasn’t shredded, more the texture of tuna salad.
The other one that Jeff got, which I also got was the Grilled Pork Sandwich for $3.50. The way they slice the green peppers, you don’t get a lot of the seeds, which is good since that’s the spicy part.. except the one that I was eating seemed to have ALL the seeds still left on it, so that wasn’t cool.
Crunchy crust and fluffy interior, it was delicious and made a mess. The taste of the grilled pork sandwich was a little strange, they used some type of sweet sauce which I didn’t like much. I said earlier I had 2 sandwiches, and the other one was the Special Sandwich, #5 on the menu. It’s the same as the regular, cept theres more meat and it costs $3.25 instead.
Grab 2 of any of their sandwiches and you have a very filling meal for under $10..would definitely return again, I recall there being a meatball sandwich that I want to try.

Mmm…I love Ba Le! If it's more convenient for you, there is also one in Chinatown right at Main and E. Georgia.

They recently renovated, so it's actually quite nice inside and I'm glad they didn't raise the prices!
