I really must say thanks to FiveLoaves for posting about LA Chicken (their post here), Danny’s Market (their post here) and now Bob’s Submarine Sandwiches (their post here). Without their posts, I wouldn’t know such great (not Chinese) eats existed in Richmond! It’s not hard to find, but you can’t see it from the main roads. Just remember that it’s behind the Staples near Richmond Center.
The place has a great 70′s show kind of feel, from the booths to the lamps as you see below. Something about the interior made me feel comfortable, can’t really explain why. Clearly the place hasn’t been renovated in a long time and it looks a little like a dive, but the food they serve up will make you forget all that.
Kevin and I both got the Super Sub, a 6″ sub for $5.90. It really is super, and makes me doubt if the 6″ subs I get at Subway really are 6″… Anyways, it contains double steak, double cheese, mushrooms, salami, capicollo, tomato and lettuce.
Just to show a size comparison with the iPhone, you can see it’s pretty hefty.
And that it’s also loaded to the max. You’ll drop your stuff all over the plate, but just use your bread or your fingers to pick it up. I finished it, unlike some other so called big eaters (ahem, Kim, heh) who didn’t. I did feel very slow after, almost went into an instant food coma after though. This of course put a stop to our plan of trying their fried chicken after the subs.
I would most definitely return for this, it was cheap, SUPER filling, and was served up pretty quick.
