Food and photography in Vancouver, BC
This is the reason why I didn’t get anything to eat while at Havana.
Sorry, in my excitement at the special for Wednesday, I cut off the billboard. You get the gist of it though, a burger and 2 pints for $10?!
The other deals are okay, 2 pints for $6 on Fridays, which is a lot better than paying $6 for one sleeve at Waazubees. I would later find out on the other side of the sandwich board that there were other burger combos, and any can be had on Friday for $10.99.
So after the girls finished off their sangria at Havana Restaurant, we walked south to Vera’s so I could get my burger and beer while YW got a snack.
Ordering a burger at Vera’s is easy, pick what you want and what toppings you want. I just went with the works, which is how I usually approach all places that ask what you want. Subways is another example…but I find that sometimes they take that as an invitation to cheap out on the ingredients.
Surprisingly, I didn’t get asked for ID here, unlike at Waazubees! Woo hoo. Two pints of Granville Island Brewery Cypress Honey Lager for me, thanks. GIB, I seem to like drinking your beer a lot…
! I even took a tour of their brewery, check out that post here.
YW got yam fries. Really thing and long, these were pretty bland…not enough substance to it, and I think it’s difficult to mess up on yam fries.
My burger, just an original Vera’s Burger with all the toppings.
The works comes with all these toppings, Ketchup, mustard, Dijon mustard, relish, mayo, Vera’s Sauce, lettuce, raw onions, tomato, hot peppers, hot sauce, pickles, BBQ sauce, honey mustard. I noticed the hot sauce really quickly. The burger itself is very dense and although it doesn’t look big, it filled me up quick, especially with the two beers.
I think that I may have to share my Wednesdays with wings (re: Flying Beaver Bar & Grill) and burgers from now on…
A note about this special, I don’t think it’s available at all locations of Vera’s since not all of them are licensed to serve alcohol. Phone and double check the location you’re headed to just to make sure.
For Canada Day 2009, I sure had a field day….
