Went to Corner 23 last week with some friends, one who has been craving for some oyster omelette (Cabin 5555 also has it). I found it strange that our drinks came like these, since we were sitting down to eat not getting take out or anything, but I guess it’s one less glass to wash. Also if you can’t finish your drink you can take it with you.
Here’s the oyster omelette, [$5.75]. There was so much starch that it was really sticky and sloppy. The ratio of oysters/vegetable/egg to starch was really disappointing. Also it seems like it was almost fried in oil, as you can see from the crust, and this isn’t how it should be made. Suffice to say, it was disappointing.
Kevin got something I’ve never tried which, crispy vegetarian chicken. Same thing as the yan su ji I get a lot, but just vegetarian. It was good, surprisingly, as I tend to not like eating vegetarian fakes.
James got this, but I can’t remember what it is. Pork in some sauce..
Victor had the spicy wontons, and this was a very different way of presenting this dish than I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t overly spicy, and was similar to the Thai peanut sauce.
Aside from the disappointment with the oyster omelettes, the rest of the food seemed to be pretty good. Service wasn’t bad either, and we probably were the rowdiest bunch in there…
