Located at the corner of Victoria & 49th is Neighbours Restaurant & Pizza House, a landmark of the neighbourhood for over 25 years. The prices are moderate, the interior probably not updated since their opening, and the staff are friendly. Came here for dinner straight after dodgeball playoffs.
Most dishes cost around $13, and the dishes are either Greek or Italian, ranging from pasta, pizza, souvlaki, and roast lamb. Monday is pasta specials, all dishes are $8.95! There’s also something for Tuesday, but I can’t recall right now. For Wednesdays, a pitcher of beer and wings goes for $15.99, wonder how good they are..wings are $0.39 each (Wed only). I may have to check this out soon, especially since it’s so close to me.
Not exclusive to a certain day, their special for $12.95 includes a 6 ounce steak with spaghetti, garlic mushrooms, garlic bread and a house salad. This is probably the best price-value on the menu, especially when I compared it to the other food my teammates ordered. The steak was juicy, and the little garlic mushrooms were bursting with flavor. I would have liked more spaghetti though. Click more to see the pictures

Q’s calamari starter. It…sucked. It was like buying those frozen octopus rings, fried with a really boring batter. The tzaziki sauce didn’t help much either, as it wasn’t very flavorful.
Sarita & Daniel got Roast Lamb ($15.95), and she commented on how the lamb was pretty fresh and moist.
Jeff got Beef Souvlaki ($14.95), and Caitlin got Vegetarian Lasagna ($12.95). A little guest commentary from Jeff.
2:03:57 AM jeff.: lasagna was okay, needed more flavour
2:04:29 AM jeff.: bread that came with it was REALLY greasy
2:05:05 AM jeff.: beef souvlaki was either really good or burnt
2:05:11 AM jeff.: some pieces were nice and juicy and tender
2:05:19 AM jeff.: other pieces you could just taste burnt
2:05:45 AM jeff.: sides were ok
2:05:55 AM jeff.: rice wasn’t too bad
Yes, it’s 2am. That’s when I’m writing this post up…..
The service was good, the waitress was attentive, but the issue the bill was a big disappointment. I know that parties of more than 8, or even 6 at some places, means the tip is automatically put on the bill, but she didn’t tell us! I don’t even know if it was 10% or 15%. Then she made mistakes splitting up our bill, having to come over twice to recheck things. That’s about the only bad mark I can put towards them.
I’m going to stay neutral for this visit, I think I’ll go back and try again, just to see how consistent they are.
