To me, summer isn’t just about BBQ, it’s also about (nearly) weekly wing outings!
I used to go to Legends a lot, but a good handful of VDL execs always go to Flying Beaver on Wednesdays after dodgeball, and suggested I do too. Am I ever glad I listened to them!
Located by the South Terminal of YVR, it’s such a weird place to go for wings, but you’ll be glad you made the drive out (it isn’t too far, really).
Can’t have wings without beer!
The view is great and if you can, get a spot out on the patio. Makes for some killer sunset views while you enjoy your food.
The place is insanely packed after 5pm, which is when the wings special starts. You have to order a drink for the special to take effect, and it’s $0.40/wing, with a minimum order of 10. Wings come in 6 flavors, Salt+Pepper, Thai Chili, Honey Garlic, Hot, Teriyaki and BBQ, which is pretty standard.
The hot isn’t that great, I would avoid it. It has a very strong vinegar taste to it, almost like they added more vinegar to the Franks Red Hot Sauce they use. I personally like the Honey Garlic and Thai Chili.
The two on the left are Honey Garlic, and the other two are Thai Chili. All are baskets of 10.
I am not exaggerating when I say the wings are HUGE..feels like 10 of them would equal to a pound, which is usually 12 at most places. I really like that they’re also very crunchy.
Grab a couple baskets and a beer, and enjoy the night.
