Food and photography in Vancouver, BC

This is from a while back, near the start of April I think. Had a VDL meeting in the area and we decided on Cabin 5555 for lunch.

Um…I think this was Matcha slush…

Crispy chicken. Flavor was a lot different from other places [Tapioca Express, No.1 Beef Noodle House, Well Tea] but it was okay. Like I said, every restaurant seems to have a different batter.

Here’s something that isn’t available in a lot of restaurants, Oyster Omelet! It’s a dish of Teowchow/Fujian origin, and is very popular in Taiwan. It’s just a mixture of egg, oysters, starch and vegetables. Topped off with some sweet ketchup like sauce that I don’t know the name of in English…
Edit- found a recipe for it. Link.

I like to order the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup whenever available, especially if I know that it’s a Taiwanese restaurant..I feel that it’s a good yardstick to measure them by. Spicy, flavorful, this was pretty good, but more pricey than other places, coming in at about 8 bucks I think..can’t remember exactly.
We had a group of more than 10 and they did their best to accommodate us. A couple items were forgotten [like my passionfruit slush], but overall not a bad experience.
We [VDL] even came back a week later for dinner after the Roller Derby event we were a part of, this time with even more people, 21!

Where there’s a will, there’s a way..haha. We came late, at about 930 or 10 so they only had a couple customers.
