Benkei Ramen

So after Morton’s, we were hungry and wanted ramen, so we walked all the way from Mortons (Waterfront) to Robson & Denman.
Long walks don’t seem long if you’re drunk, haha.

It was before 9pm, and Kintaro had a long line up so we went to Benkei instead.

Don’t remember why I took this, but I realized that you do this all the time Kim.

Spicy miso ramen..? I’m pretty sure it is.

So much meat, and the layer of red chili oil on top looks very daunting.. be careful when you eat, this is the kind of spicy that can choke you! And there’s lots of garlic too, mm great date dinner.

The others got Miso Ramen. The egg is an add-on.

Just like bbt places, buy 10 get 1 free!

My opinion? Decent, but I’ll have to try the miso ramen to compare against Kintaro’s own.

Why I have the odd feeling that I will have to take the “blame” if bloggers start taking snapshot of the condiments? :D

I have not been in Benkei for a while but, specially given that you have Kintaro and Shotomachi Shokudo in the same area. I guess I should pay them a visit again to see if things have changed since my last visit.

Nice to see that you’re alive Kevin! Hope your finals are going well… The ramen looks good, I think I’ll need to pay them a visit soon. I guess there was no lineup here as opposed to Kintaro right?

I remember when this place opened, my boyfriend and I vowed to NEVER go there. Seeing this post has changed my mind (re: buy 10 get 1 free, this truly shows how Asian I am!).

If you’re willing to wait in line for Kintaro it’s totally worth it, sure it looks a little run down … and the BBQ pork isn’t the same as Benkei’s, but it’s still good!

    I’m alive! Nearly done. :)
There was a line up at Benkei too, but it was only two groups of 3 in front of us, so a lot more bearable than half a block of Denman for Kintaro.

Oh trust me…I’ve waited for Kintaro ramen so many times. 30min wait minimum at dinner time. urrrrgh, but so good and cheap!
