Voted numerous times to be the most authentic tacos in Vancouver.
Not an easy feat, considering you can find food from all over the world in Vancouver, with many Mexican/Latin restaurants along Victoria/Commercial drive.
I’ve been to Dona Cata 3 times, and I’ve left each time satisfied and happy with the food.

Second visit, took my mom with me.

I had a Tamarind juice.. yum. Yes, it’s that fruit that looks like poo.
My mom had Horchata, the drink beside my bottle.

Split all 7 toppings available for the tacos with my mom.

Went again this past Thursday with friends.
Start with complimentary tortilla chips.

Round 1. Carnitas/Al Pastor/Lamb

To get the most out of your tacos, split up the meat between the two tortillas provided. As you can see, I also put different salsas on each.

There’s other stuff, such as Tacos Dorados.. aka Taquitos.

KW putting salsa on his 2nd round.

My second round, all split up.

My favorite salsa would be the Avacado one. It’s got a little spicy kick to it too.

Service – prompt and friendly. Menu is in English so no worries there.
Food – Delicious $2 tacos.. how can you say no?
Overall – 10/10. I’m not biased towards spanish food. Really.

Just a suggestion. You have such good reviews that you should consider putting up your post to Urbanspoon. It does bring some traffic … not much but your posts will surely help build quality content on them.

    Yesss,
Dona Cata is my favourite local place for authentic tacos.
I love their horchatas too. But what’s with the weird bottles for their salsa bar? They used to present them in nice pottery bowls which lended a home made touch. Maybe they were scolded by the Health Dept. for having open bowls. You know, in case someone sneezes or spits in it.

You should try the tacos with carmelized onions too. They’re to die for. My sister always steals some of mine because she’s too cheap to pay a bit more.

Ben – Thanks a lot. :) Getting started is the hard part.

Hmmm wish I could make Horchata at home.

The open bowls are definitely less sanitary, but they did look better. Oh well, I don’t mind, as long as I get some of that Avocado Salsa!

Which one has the onions? Is it a part of the 7 different fillings?
