Food and photography in Vancouver, BC

The view upon entering.
So, the food first. Although portions are small, since it is a tapas style restaurant, the food is definitely huge on flavour.
Appetizers:

So full of flavour and tender! For me, this was the best app. Plenty of duck, perfect size to satiate my hunger till the entree.

Crispy fish tacos. Lightly battered, crunchy and crispy. Didn’t pack as much a punch flavor wise as the tacos, but still good. I rarely get a chance to try fish tacos.
Entrees:

The fish didn’t taste cooked in the very middle, it was still a little soft. I know that’s not intentional, especially when cooking fish, but it was still good. Only had one bite of the fish, and half of the plantain on the bottom. Around it was, what seemed and tasted like cilantro pesto.

So drool worthy. Thin slices of steak, over two small leaves of romaine lettuce, caesar style, on top of a mashed potatoes..I didn’t taste the chorizo though, I forgot about it until I checked the menu again when I got home.
Desserts:

A very smooth and dense cheesecake, you can definitely taste the goats milk. Separated by I think a piece of shortbread..one side had lemon curd, and the other with crushed hazelnuts.
When you have the cheesecake and the lemon curd together, it was the PERFECT combination. Compliments to the chef for this dessert.

Nutty brownie. It wasn’t as spicy as I expected/wanted it to be, but you get a tinge of it.

I love churros! That’s part of the whole my food taste is influenced by my mom. See, churros made in Costa Rica are just…amazing. They even have stuffing inside. Not that I remember any of this, my family moved to Vancouver when I wasn’t even 1 year old.
Dulce de leche, loosely translated is ..”milk candy”. To me, it tastes like caramel, but it’s actually sweetened milk that is slowly heated. I’m not too fond of sweet things, so I can only handle so much dessert before I give up.
My server barely smiled and had his nose up the whole time.. he just had this snobby attitude. I understand that it’s DOV, and it’s busy, and it sucks, but you should still put a presentable and friendly face on to your paying customers. The other servers were nice.
The place, well. It’s very cozy. The decoration seems very mismatched, showing a whole slew of styles. Western, modern, industrial…The table we sat at was kind of awkward, it was shaped like a leaf.
Overall, I rate this place a 8/10 and would come back again, I just hope that if I get the same server that his attitude is better.

Leaf table?
Mismatched?
I think Cobre is exactly what it claims to be ‘nuevo latino’. You should expect something a little different when you come in. Sounds like you didn’t.
Strange that you got a bad vibe vis-a-vis service…cobre has been nothing but first class each time timinganddelivery.com has been there.
Hope things work out for you next time.
